Projects An extensive renovation and addition to a 1970’s-era spec house on a lovely private pond, this project sought to give an architecturally-indifferent ranch house the stateliness of a Victorian Italianate house – a style very popular in the surrounding lanes of Greenwich, Connecticut. Only the basic footprint, fireplace, and cellar of the original two-storey, gambrel-roofed house remain. The new house is entirely reconceived as a three-storey rectilinear volume typical of the Italianate, complete with a cupola surmounting the roof to bring light into an internal stair hall and a deep, welcoming porch that runs the full extent of the garden façade, framing beautiful views of a rich lawn sloping down to the pond below.
