The Eagle Warehouse on Old Fulton Street in Brooklyn Heights
is a 1,200 square foot loft located in an Italianate
storage building built in 1874 on the site of the Brooklyn Eagle Newspaper once
edited by Walt Whitman. The most obviously striking feature in the apartment is
the 10 foot glass and iron clock face, which serves as the living room window.
Poised directly across from the eastern tower of the Brooklyn Bridge, the apartment
commands an extraordinarily dramatic view of the East River
and the skyline of Lower Manhattan. In addition to acid-washed existing brick
walls, the predominant materials are milk painted cabinets,
tinted concrete counters, and variegated Asian slate. The apartment is furnished
with English and American antiques and features a collection of rare Turkish and
Central Asian carpets and textiles.
